New Themes in Planet New Mexico
Last month, I spent three blissful weeks as a Greenleaf Visiting Scholar at the University of New Mexico’s Center for Southwest Research, going through the archived personal papers of a Planet New Mexico “character” who has captured my attention: musician, composer, professor, folk music collector and lawyer John Donald Robb (1892-1989).
I presented my initial findings in a public talk at UNM before an enthusiastic audience that included noted New Mexican folk music scholars Enrique Lamadrid and Claude Stephenson. I was surprised and overjoyed! Now I’m hoping this project might turn out to be not only my initial academic exploration of New Mexican topics, but also a useful and necessary contribution to a local body of knowledge.
Stay tuned…
